A California man suspected of shooting a 61-year-old woman over the weekend apparently took his own life by stepping in front of a moving truck Monday morning.

 The list of safety violations reads like a rap sheet of trucking “deadly sins.” In the past four months 26 road inspections of an Indiana trucking company netted 10 overweight citations, 21 violations for drivers with insufficient English skills, 12 violations of drivers operating without a CDL – and more.

A joint panel of two Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration advisory boards has recommended a series of new medical hoops for truck drivers to jump through – all in the name of improving safety by screening for sleep apnea.
