I-5 suicide: Homicide suspect steps in front of truck
The man, John Quincy Ellis, 46, was pulled over by Stockton, CA police while heading southbound on Interstate 5 as Stockton and Santa Rosa police investigated a homicide that occurred Sunday afternoon. During Monday’s traffic stop, Ellis reportedly immediately exited the vehicle and asked officers to kill him, according to the Record Staff newspaper.
Ellis reportedly ran through the southbound lanes and into the far northbound lane before stopping, “allowing a big rig to strike him,” a police spokesman told the Record Staff. The truck driver did not have time to stop.
Ellis, of Stockton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Santa Rosa Police issued a statement Monday that detailed a shooting from Sunday afternoon. Carole Marie Brooks, 61, was shot at 1:48 p.m. in Santa Rosa. Brooks was taken to a hospital and later died from her wounds.
